Unlocking

I forgot my passcode

On the lock screen, tap Forgot passcode? Use your recovery code. Type the recovery code you saved when you set up the app, then choose a new passcode.

I lost my recovery code

If you can still unlock Triparoo, open Settings and tap Make a new recovery code. Save the new one somewhere safe, away from your phone. The old code stops working.

I forgot both my passcode and my recovery code

Then your trips can’t be opened, by you or by us. Triparoo encrypts everything on your phone and we never have a copy of your keys. That is what keeps your passports safe if your phone is lost, but it also means there is no back door.

Fingerprint unlock stopped working

When fingerprints are added or removed in Android’s settings, Triparoo turns fingerprint unlock off for safety and says so on the lock screen. Enter your passcode, then turn on Fingerprint unlock again in Settings.

Backups and new phones

How do I back up my trips?

Open Settings, tap Choose a backup folder and pick a folder, for example on a USB drive or in a cloud drive app. Triparoo then backs up by itself about once a week while you use the app, and you can tap Back up now at any time. The backup is encrypted and opens only with your recovery code.

How do I move to a new phone?

Make a fresh backup to a folder you can reach from the new phone. Install Triparoo on the new phone, tap Restore from a backup, pick that folder and type your recovery code. Your trips, travellers, documents and passes come back as they were.

Sharing

How do I share a trip?

Open the trip and tap the share icon at the top. Pick one of your saved travellers, choose what they get, and tap Make the file. Send the file with any app, then give them the code another way: read it out, or let Triparoo text or email it if you saved their phone number or email.

The person I shared with lost the code

Open the trip’s share screen, pick the same person, and tap They lost the code? Show it again.

Can the other person change my trip?

No. A shared trip is read-only on their phone, except for ticking off their own packing list, which they can send back to you.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

Only on your phone, encrypted. There is no Triparoo account and no Triparoo server holding your trips. See the privacy policy for the details.

How do I delete everything?

Uninstalling Triparoo deletes everything it stored on your phone. If you made backups or saved shared trip files, delete those from the folders where you put them.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. Triparoo is for Android for now.
