Triparoo

Privacy policy

Last updated 24 October 2026. This policy covers the Triparoo app for Android, as distributed through Google Play, and this website.

The short version. Triparoo keeps your trips on your phone. There are no accounts, the app doesn’t collect your data, and we can’t see your trips, passports or documents. Nothing leaves your phone unless you send it yourself.

Who we are

Triparoo is a travel-folder app for Android. You can reach us at support@gotriparoo.com.

What the app keeps, and where

Everything you put into Triparoo stays on your phone:

  • trips and their plans: flights, trains, ferries, stays, rentals, tours and other activities, booking references, and who is going to each;
  • travellers: names, a colour, and if you add them, a phone number and email address;
  • documents: passports and other papers, including numbers, expiry dates, and the photos and PDFs you add;
  • boarding passes and tickets, including Apple Wallet passes you open with Triparoo;
  • photos you add to a trip, such as a rental car’s condition at pick-up and return, with the time each was taken;
  • packing lists.

All of it is stored in an encrypted database on your phone (AES-256-GCM). The key that opens it is protected by your passcode, your fingerprint through Android, and your recovery code. We never receive a copy of your data or of these keys.

When you scan a passport or a boarding pass, or open a Wallet pass, it is read on your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere to be processed. Photos you add stay in Triparoo’s encrypted storage, not in your phone’s gallery.

What leaves your phone, and only when you choose

Backups

If you turn on backups, Triparoo copies its encrypted files into a folder you pick with Android’s folder picker. That can be a folder on the phone, a USB drive, or a cloud drive app you already use. The backup stays encrypted and opens only with your recovery code. If you choose a cloud folder, that provider stores the encrypted files under its own terms.

Sharing a trip

When you share a trip, Triparoo makes one encrypted file with the parts you chose to include. You send it with an app of your choice, and it opens only with the code you give the other person. Phone numbers and email addresses are never put in a shared file.

Texting or emailing a code

If a traveller has a phone number or email saved, Triparoo can open your messaging or email app with the code filled in. You decide whether to send it, and it goes through that app, not through us.

Sending a photo

From a trip’s photos you can send one photo, for example to a rental company, through an app you choose. Triparoo makes a plain copy only for that moment and deletes it when the app locks or starts again. The copy carries whatever your camera stored in the photo, such as the time and, if your camera records it, the place.

Trip reminders

If you turn on trip reminders, Triparoo works them out on your phone (for example “Your trip is in 3 days” with how much is packed, a tour the evening before, or a rental return) and hands them to the phone’s own notification system to show at the right time. Until it is shown, a reminder’s text is kept by the phone outside the encrypted vault, so by default it doesn’t name the trip, anyone in it, meeting points or your notes; you can choose to show them. Reminders are not sent to us or anyone else.

What we collect

Nothing. Triparoo has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising or advertising ID, no crash-reporting tools, and it doesn’t use your location. The app doesn’t send your data to our servers or anyone else’s.

Permissions

  • Fingerprint (biometrics): to unlock the app if you turn it on. Android checks your fingerprint and tells Triparoo only whether it matched. Your fingerprint itself never reaches the app.
  • Camera: to photograph a passport, a boarding pass or a rental vehicle, only when you tap Camera. The photo goes into Triparoo’s encrypted storage, not your gallery.
  • Notifications: only if you turn on trip reminders.
  • Run at startup: so reminders you turned on are set again after the phone restarts.
  • Vibration: for small taps of feedback.
  • Screenshot detection: part of the component that blocks screenshots of passports and your recovery code. Triparoo doesn’t record or send screenshots.
  • Internet and network state: listed by Android for the app, but Triparoo doesn’t use them to send your data anywhere. Sharing and backups go through the apps and folders you choose.

Files are added through Android’s own pickers, so the app doesn’t ask for access to all your photos or storage.

Google Play

When you install or update Triparoo, Google Play handles that under Google’s privacy policy. If you have allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics with Google, Google may show us anonymous crash and performance statistics in the Play Console, such as the phone model, the Android version and where the app stopped. These never include your trips or documents.

Children

Triparoo is meant for adults organising travel. Parents can add their children’s details and documents; like everything else, these stay on the parent’s phone. We don’t collect information from children, or from anyone else.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data is deleted when you delete it in the app, or when you uninstall Triparoo. Backups and shared files you saved elsewhere stay where you put them until you delete them. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete, but you are welcome to write to us with any question.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK), PIPEDA (Canada) or the CCPA (California) give you rights to see, correct or delete personal data held about you. Because we don’t collect or hold your data, you exercise these rights directly in the app. If you have a question, write to support@gotriparoo.com.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. It runs on our own server, which keeps standard access logs (IP address, the page requested, browser, and time) for about two weeks to keep the site secure, and then deletes them. Emails to support@gotriparoo.com are forwarded to a Gmail inbox that we use only to reply to you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
